Help! Car looks orange, code says red??
Ok guys I need some help on this one. There is a car for sale that I'm interested in. All the pics the guy has sent look orange to me. But he sends me a pic of the RPO codes and it shows '81U' which is the code for Bright Red. I was really hoping the car was orange.
Is it normal for the Bright Red cars to look orange in pics (he said pics were taken with an iPad)??

The car is 3.5 hours away from me. I called the guy and he said it's a bright red color. I don't want to make the trip only to find out it really is the red, not orange.
CO - your car definitely does not look bright red in that pic! Weird **** indeed haha

If the SPID sticker says "81U", and the VIN on that sticker matches the VIN on the dash, then the car definitely came from the factory in Bright Red, not orange. So if the car has never been repainted, then it must still be red - but it's hard to know this for sure unless you're buying from the original owner.
Having said that, I agree with the others above about this shade of red sometimes looking orange in certain lights. I had a Bright Red '00 Trans Am that would appear orange under certain lighting as well, same color code as the 81U Camaros.

Yup I have pics showing both VINs match. This guy got the car when it has 20k miles on it and has owned it for 14 years.
With him saying the car is a bright red color and the 81U code being Bright Red, I think the pics are just playing tricks on my eyes. Looks like a super clean car, I just don't think I want one in red. =\
