Wife's new car paint chip options
Ok so this car was purchased two weeks ago and on my inspection for picking it up we noticed some deep scratches on the trunk and a paint chip in the door. They said would take it to body shop when she brought it in for tinting windows and would do what they could to fix paint chip
Well lets just say I will not ever trust there body shop again.
This is on a 2015 Fusion
Color is quite close but my god this blob job is terrible. Been doing some reading and I'm seeing I could wet sand the area carefully withy 2000-3000 grit and then just buff it out gently with some M105 and polish after.
Anyone think this is a good idea? Ive got plenty of experience with a DA polisher just not sure if I should deal with this myself? How much sanding are we talking?

Wet sanding should knock that down good. Just tape off a little 2x2 in. square where the touch up paint is. Wet sand with 2000 grit. Once you start wet sanding you will be able to read the paint pretty well. Don't use a ton of force, just a little finesse. Then pull the tape off and hit it good with m105 which has no problem removing 2000 grit wet sanding marks, then finish with a polish

awesome will do! I'm not too worried about the clear coat since car is brand new and I'm thinking it wont take a whole lot to flatten this out and buff it smooth Thanks for the reponse
