Window sweep door clips worn out?

Window sweep door clips worn out? Noticed lately that my driver side window sweep or "weather seal" has started to pop out. So I decided to take of the door panel and remove the seal with a new one that I ordered. Ended up braking a clip on the new seal of course. But either way before I broke it the new seal didn't fit or clip in place right as well. I think the actual door holes where are clips pop in are worn out? Has anyone had this problem? How do I resolve this? Would I need a new door idek..???

The long finger goes into the hole and the 2 little tabs on either side lock under the tiny ridge the runs the length of the door. If the long finger is angled out too far out it won't hold the sweep against the door tight enough to keep the tabs locked under the ridge. I chased the same issue and it ultimately took me removing the sweep and pressing the finger in a bit so that it fit tighter.
I spent a couple hours redoing the clips after getting my doors painted. Truly a pain in the ***. They can get brittle, I have a 97 so mine are 20+ years old. I bought some new ones and that made it easier.
