Default What company makes the best fitting ram-air hoods?

I am likely going to be looking for a new hood soon, and I am curious who makes the best fitting ram-air hoods. I like the Firehawk style intake ports, without the separating line like the WS6 hood has.

This is the hood that I have. I've been very happy with the fitment. It does have that separating line that you don't want.

The Trufiber hoods that ws6store sell fit very well and are reasonably priced with free freight too.

Stay away from carbon creations at all costs. Absolute garbage with bad fitment.

I've seen a Tru Fiber in person and it looked almost as good as a OEM hood.

I had a VFN WS6 hood installed on my 01 TA. Body shop said "Oh yeah, it fits well." So I told them to go ahead and paint it. Well, it didn't fit well. The thing was warped such that the left front corner could not be made to fit flush, no matter what. VFN wasn't interested in getting me satisfaction. Mainly because of that, I ended up selling the car. My advice is to stay away from VFN.

Just got Trufiber.

It fits well and it's reinforced with sheet metal at the latch and hinge areas.

I'm trying to decide if the gaps between the hood and the fenders is too wide?

I need to see an OEM WS6 car up close to compare the fitment.

It IS a very well made hood, I believe in some ways better than the OEM hood.

You might wish to compare the price if you're interested right from www.trufiber.com

It shipped freight from them and took weeks, probably due to COVID.

I’m wondering the same thing. I plan on buying a WS6 style hood soon. I want to know if I should go with a Trufiber WS6 or WS9 hood? Or does anyone know anything about Amerihood’s WS6? I haven’t found much of anything for that hood online. Besides a pic from a customer on their site and it looks like it fits well. It’s like $344 but I don’t mind paying more for Trufiber if the quality and fitment is better.

I have the WS9 hood from TruFiber and it's awesome! These aren't the best pictures, but here's my red Formula with the TruFiber WS9 hood and my old Trans Am that I sold my friend that has an OEM WS6 hood:

I have received nothing but compliments on the fit of the TruFiber hood.

Sweet that looks really good! I may end up going the trufiber route for my hood. Since I’ve seen more positive things about it and not much info on the amerihood. Appreciate the help and pics!

Default Trufiber long term hood review?

I wanted to see if anyone with a Trufiber WS6 or WS9 hood, how has the hood held up since you’ve owned it? Any warping, or cracking or anything? Pretty much any long term reviews from anyone that owns a Trufiber hood 😆

Default Gaps

Here are pictures showing the width of the left & right Trufiber hood gaps.

Should the gaps be that wide, is that the intention?

For comparison, I also attached a pic of the OEM rear deck lid (driver's side left).

The product is so well made, did they intend for the gaps to be that wide?

Are the OEM WS6 hoods like this?

That looks pretty close to me. You could get it a bit closer but it would be a bit of work.

Thank you!

I drove it today to get inspected -- love driving it!

So the OEM hood fits like that?

The raised up part & the nostrils were clearly molded from an OEM hood -- that part is dead on, other then the nostrils being all one piece.

I really like how they sculpted the lips around the nostrils.

What would you adjust, the fenders?

Yes! That's the fender, hood, and headlight door.

The rear hatch (OEM) has a similar gap.

Could the fenders be moved closer together somehow?

I wanted others to know, because the gaps seem excessive to me.

The rest of the hood seems well made...

you could theoretically put washers behind the fender bolts ( inside the fender ) to push in the fender....but that would throw off other gaps

the body is made to exact dimensions....and not much slop is allowed in any bolt on panels....which poor accident repair easily gives away its clues

my OEM WS6 hood has half that gap
