The number of Camaros seems to exceed the Firebirds which might have been an underlying part of his interest as well.

Funny thing is, we always seem to have a glut of convertible 4th gens for sale here in the Great Lakes region. They always seem to have a hard time selling and usually have to get pretty cheap (relative to the coupes) to move. It's understandable, because this is a horrible climate for a convertible - I just wonder how so many ended up in an area that has such harsh weather in the first place? And it's not just the same cars getting listed over and over, it always seems like new ones pop up every year. Here's a quick search result (keep in mind, some of these cars listed below are junk, some are V6 cars, and most are not even remotely comparable to one as nice as yours, but it's just an example of how many always seem to be available here...finding one here is easy, but finding a truly nice one would be the hard part):

I'm guessing you mean facebook? I don't even participate in that chaos.

It's so nice to see one of these restored to that condition with an original-type drivetrain still in place. There are plenty of fun, late model cars to go fast with modern tech if that's your thing, but for these dinosaurs it takes something away from the experience, at least to me, when they are overly modernized and any "vintageness" only goes skin deep. And yeah, I love the body-colored wheels with poverty caps!
I would have done that with my Nova if it was any other color but silver (silver wheels are so common in general that it's just not the same type of effect as Hugger Orange, etc.)

No matter what though, I'm definitely keeping my period-correct engine/trans, Holley carb, etc. That's part of the fun to me. My '74 Cutlass is the same way; still has the original Olds 350, and just last fall I installed a fresh, date-correct Q-jet to solve the last of its fueling issues. Car runs great now - not fast, but it's my favorite cruiser.

Whenever I see this car, it reminds me of Live and Let Die, this is the car that grew wings and flew away. Outdone only by the Hornet that did that spiral jump across the creek. Great product placement for AMC.
