Was it ever repaired with aftermarket parts? Aftermarket parts are made from expired molds. The molds warp !over time and the copies won't be as sharp as the originals. The new replacement mold is brought in after so many stampings and the old mold is sold to the highest bidder usually overseas like Tong Yang.
My SS hood took a lot of work to get it to lay down. My air box if I don’t have that just right will cause my hood to kick up a tad on the passengers side.
Is the hood steel or fiberglass?? Has the hood always sat like that since you bought it? Has it gotten worse? How long have you had the car? Was there a carfax done? The way most insurance companies work with repair shops is go with aftermarket first, used oem 2nd, new OEM if available and only if fitment from options 1&2 are subpar. If the repair guy is worth a damn he would fit it as best as he could as his name is attached to the repair.
The hood is held by the 2 side hinges with 2 bolts and and the latch. Not really away to adjust height unless you mess with the striker. The striker adjustment will usually only adjust the front of the hood. There are 4? Adjustable risers you could play with one at a time until a desirable gap is achieved.
It's hard to tell what's the exact issue is by pics. Does the fender line up everywhere else but that corner?
It's a steel hood. The fender might have been replaced at one point. A large tree branch fall on it and broke the windshield and driver's mirror about 10+ years ago in a storm. I dont remember if the fender needed to be changed.
I've had the car about 13 years now (2nd owner). No accidents. Fender fits well except the spot in the picture. I tried to look for adjustments on the hinge, but there aren't any. Ive been slowly restoring the car and really noticed the hood/fender alignment was off. Just looking see if the fender can be aligned better with the hood.
Did some digging. Found an old picture of when the branch decided to impale my windshield 10 years ago. Fender was definitely replaced. With that said, anyway to get the aftermarket one to fit well? Or should I source an OEM one from a junk yard?
Maybe check the upper fender mounting points where it attaches up there, see if maybe something is bent? If I recall from my old 98 about 15 years ago now there are some mounting bolts along the top edge.
