OK, I was reading this post, thinking the very same thing, then it hit me - my mom's Olds alero (spelling?) / Grand Am uses the rear defroster grid as the radio antenna w/ a signal amplifier - I'm gonna' go salvage yard hunting to try and pick up one of those boxes, then I'll get rid of that antenna too!

Yeah, my moms lesabre does that too, and I thought it was something different than the defroster?

Blah I remember those, that and when they used to use standard length antennas and then put them at an angel.... Lots of standing waves...

Blah... Like the antenna in my old 1977 Firebird Espirit being located in the windshield. I mean it looks cool it just will never work as well as a proper length 12-6 o'clock antenna.

Of course it did use 1970 technology, though its (windshield) does stand a hell of a lot more upright than the slope of a 4th gen rear glass.

Of course the antenna mostly goes across the glass which is nearly pointless since it is the perpendicular angle compared to the radio wave.

Okay I am just rambling to myself now. That's what I get for retired from satellite antenna work...

I never listen to my radio anymore anyway all I get is Mexican radio out here. Not cool. Not cool.

I wonder if there is any kind of rubber gromlet you can stick in the hole until you can do a more permanent fix like this...?

Default rubber

Yes there is a rubber groment that you can use.

I know some people that has done this to the cars that they picked up from the state sale that had an extra anteanna hole in the car. Instead of fixing it, they just stuck the rubber piece in there and sold the car like that.

This isn't contributing to the antenna delete, but it is in the stereo system, and this is paint and body, so here's my first attempt of building ANYTHING fiberglass......
