That's a crack from something hitting it from the bottom most likely.Could be stress from the strut rod (not likely) or somebody could have left something on top of the engine or strut tower, and closed the hood without checking. You can repaint that ten times, it'll keep coming back until you dig it out and repair the base material. Don't let anyone put fpolyester fiberglass resin in there either. Use epoxy resin so you don't get the shrinking and repair "map"

whistler explained this well, just make sure you get every trace of the crack sanded down before you fill, or it will happen again

they are correct it appear to be form something hitting from underneath the hood. the problem will not go away until the cracks have been ground out of the hood completly and filled over, also make sure an urathne primer is put over it and sealed will help any scratches from coming back through.

yeah, you'll have to get into the hood for that. like said above, use some kind of epoxy based filler and if were me i would use a sprayable polyester (slick sand, feather fill, etc) before a urethane because it will hold out better and not have that tendancy to ring up around the repair. urethanes are aggressive, they eat under that edge of all the layers of paint-especially if its been painted that much- and thats what causes those "rings" to show up. even worse on a dark colored car

never had a problem with urathane doing that, but either way a polyster primer is a good way to go too. what ever you do dont use a lacquer based primer because in a few days you will definatly see rings and scratches show back up everywher it was repaired

+1 for polyester. Block that smooth and spray urethane over top of that for best results.
