Depends on where your located, what needs to be done.

For example my 94 Camaro just needed minor body work and I had my racing stripes painted on as well as put a 69 style spoiler on top of the factory spoiler and I spent $2400. I was extremely nice once it was done.

I just wish I could find some pictures of it to place up. I owned from 95-97 before wrecking it.

If you want a Quality paint job ie they remove the door panels and paint between the seams of your car, not just the exterior (I think this is a must on cars you are painting the non-stock color as it looks professional) you are going to pay into the thousands for a full sanding, priming, paiting, coating, ect. Otherwise if its just a junker spend the quick $800 at a Maco, I have had great luck with body work from them before.

look around a little bit and see if you can find a better price. even in CA i dont think it would be that much. around here (im 10min from stlouis mo) a GOOD paint job is around 2G if you have body work it climbs a bit but i cant see spending 7. heck a friend of mine stripped an s10 re-did everything even put flames in the door jambs and ghost flames on the hood and a little on the fenders for a little bit less then 7

A color change and a good quality paint job isnt cheap. I wouldnt want to guess a price, but I wouldnt pay 7k.

We can do a really nice color change(with jambs and engine compartment) on an F body starting at around 4K with good materials.

We can do a really nice color change(with jambs and engine compartment) on an F body starting at around 4K with good materials. We've color changed dozens of them, and can do it faster than most, so that price is cheaper then most, and the job you'll get is very high quality.

Its costing me $1000 for the extra work to my car. I had a crash and they were going to repaint the hood and fender with a blend on the doors. I asked to repaint the whole thing and fix any imperfections. $1000 to fix 5 or 6 spots and then re-paint stock OEM color. My guess is 2500 for a total paint job. The body shop working on my car charges $42 /hr. They do mostly upper end vehicles. My was the least expensive in the place. Mercedes, Land Rover, Jaguar, BMW and Lexus are his normal business.
I figured if he was good enough to work on those cars he can handle mine.

I had thought about HOK paint and going custom but the paint alone was going to be at least $1200 for just a Kandy.
