Default before the swap...questions

back in high school i got into a fender bender and the front body pieces have never lined up the same again because i put them on myself to save money. the random person would never be able to notice, but I do...and that's what matters.

also when looking directly down on the front of the car it looks as if the drivers side frame rail is slightly cocked towards the right. i think that's why nothing lines up.

before my swap i would like to get a body shop to pull the frame, realign the front body pieces and sand and paint the engine bay. nothing fancy just something to clean out all the nasty **** and get it looking decent again.

if it comes down to more than i expect it to cost, i'm just going to have them pull the frame and paint the engine bay, i will put the body pieces back on after i finish the motor install and i will pressure wash and sand the engine bay and do all the prep work before taking it up to the body shop.

how much do you guys for see this costing?

everything(pulling frame, align body pieces, clean, sand, paint engine bay)

and then

limited(pulling frame and paint engine bay)

thank you in advance!

Well a frame pull isn't cheap, most place charge a setup fee, so if its minor it still expensive. I've averaged 300-500 on these cars. Theres no good way to guess on the cost, we don't know the extent of the damage, labor rates, etc... if you can remove alot of the stuff yourself, in the engine bay and all for painting, would save you alot. But hard to do since they probally prefer the car driveable to do the work til it needs paint.

The guy that I've been talking to, whom has a shop at the beginning of the road I live on, says he'll pull the frame for $50/hour. The car really isn't off much...just enough. Probably less than 1-2 inches...just one of the front frame pieces that connects to the bumper absorber is bent.

He figures $100-200 for the frame pulling. Honestly I think I'm going to end up taking all the body pieces off and then yanking the engine and trailering the car up there. Having them pull the frame and spray the engine bay. I wouldn't think it'd be more than $500 total...or am I wrong?

Well the setup for the frame machine takes time, in your case maybe more time than the actual pull. Then then need to measure everything. I would think you could get the frame down for 300 based on what I know. However on the spraying part, best to ask them, but if it sounds cheap, get it in writing.
