Default How to mask off front bird?

I made a clear LED bird. I broke it so now I'm looking to do it again. I bought a clear front plate cover from Afterthoughts Auto. I spent hours painstakingly masking off the outside AND INSIDE of the bird with small pieces of masking tape. The paint shop painted and cleared over it. That made removing it a complete PITA. Plus my lines didn't cut very well. I'm having the Bird decal cleared into the paint this time so it'll hold up better.

Any thoughts on how to better mask off the bird?

Thanks!

You might want to try using some thin pinstriping to go around the outer edges of the bird design as it is REALLY easy to get to curve while still keeping a clean outer edge. Just leave the inside open during the pinstriping application and then use painters tape to mask the hollow portion inside the pinstriping lines. Should give you a nice clean edge on the bird.
