getting a hood painted So before I run out and buy a new hood, I figured I better do some research and see what other costs are involved. On average, what do you think it would cost for a shop to do all of the prep work and paint the hood. I don't want to spend my spare money to buy a new hood, just to find out I'll have to wait to come up with another $500 before I can put it on the car, and have to trip over it in the garage.
I'd say $400 or more. Hard to tell because I think it depends on the area. I just got a quote for $1000 to paint a ram air hood Pewter and do the flames like I currently have. This shop charges $50 an hour.

When i bought my hood and had it painted and fit...it came out to bout 600 but he blended from the front bumper back to the mirrors...best way to do it...pretty hard to match the hood up with the existing paint on the car
Had my hood removed, paint stripped off (due to acid rain marks), hand block sanded for 8 hrs., special underlayer put on to keep acid rain marks from coming back, base coat, paint on blackbird stripes, clear overall, hood re-installed - all for $540
