Default Paint Code Q? (Not in Sticky, Already Checked)

Just as the title says. I did the research and can't find the paint code for a 96 Z28 camaro. I found 98+ the onyx black, but no dice on my car.

I want to compare the two. Are they both the same paint code but just called a different name. I am done purchasing for my LS1 front end conversion and now it's time to paint.

I ask this q cause I have a 2002 stock LS1 hood on the car and I swear to god it matches right up with the 96's black paint. I can't notice the difference, but still I want to do this legit. If it's a different code I want the whole car the same type of paint.

This is all I could pull that was useful.

But no dice on the LT1's. Can anyone help me out here? Are they the same paint codes?

Don't get caught up in paint "names", they mean absolutely nothing. The code is what is important as your starting point and yes the black code for 1996 is the same as 1998-2002 and it's 41U with an expanded code of WA8555. Your paint store will know what the expanded code means.

When you order your paint just tell them the year of your car, that its a gm, and use the wa8555 code. It is the more up to date code due to most shops using computers to bring up paint codes. Trust me I do painting and mix 15 - 20 codes a week.

Cool. I really appreciate it guys, that's all I was after. I was almost postive that the paint codes where the same for a 96 and a 02 Z. I bolted on the 2002 hood and I just thought to myself damn I can't tell the difference. But it's always nice to have some reassurance, thanks again guys!
