If your car has original paint it comes off and looks perfect. If you have been repainted they probably painted over the molding, so when you remove it, it will leave an outline of where the molding used to be. If there is an outline, you can wetsand and buff it to blend it in... (looks OK) or repaint the panels.

I would add to the above that you want to think about whether to take it
off or not depending on how the car has been exposed to the sun and if the
rest of the paint is possibly starting to fade. IF it is, then the paint under the molding will look perfect next to the rest of the paint that may be faded.
Reds are pretty notorious for this.

I have Pewter. I took mine off in 15 minutes using nothing but my fingers and the bar code scanner plastic key chain thingy from my gym.

No scratches, no fading...looks great!

I took off the Trans Am logo as well...much better looking without all that crap!!

More people have done it than you would think. There are plenty of write-ups.

Once u take it off and it's a little more shiney, just wax the door a couple of times. If that doesn't work get somebody to buff the door and that will make it look a lot better.
