Faded Door Moulding / Trim

Faded Door Moulding / Trim I don't know how well the pictures represent the reality, but I think they came out alright. Along the tops of the mouldings on my doors, there are areas where they have lost their shine and are not smooth.
It may be hard to tell but do you think that is just the clear missing and the base is ok? The reason I ask is I was considering fixing them myself. Wondering if I need to put some base on or if I can just throw some clear on. Either way if I do it myself I will be using some spray touch up paint. These areas do look a lot more like the rest of the panel when they are wet, so that is the reason I think it may just be the clear that is gone.
I might just throw on a little clear and see what it looks like, and then sand it down if it doesn't work. What do you think?
PS I like the trim, so I am not going to just take it off and throw it away

scuff them up with a grey scotch bright pad. Spray some good clear on them like dupont or ppg. If you use a rattle can clear you might end up with alot of problems. Best bet it to take them off and have a shop reshoot some color and then clear them for ya.
