Default Damaged SS Spoiler

I was removing my SS Spoiler to see what the problem was with why it wouldn't sit flush on the passenger's side corner. It turned out to be that one of the bolts was stripped from the hole. The fiberglass was torn and the bolt wouldn't hold to the spoiler.

Is this fixable? I planned on getting it painted for my birthday on the 14th so do I fix it or get an aftermarket spoiler?

I have the same problem with a plastic door panel piece (the small one surrounding the door handle) and the fiberglass door. When I got my car back from the shop that replaced the window motor, the screw holding the panel in was stripped. I took it back to try to get them to fix it, and all they did was put a larger screw in the hole. What would be the best way to fix this so that I can use the original screw? I'd think it would be a pretty similar method to the fix needed for the first post... ?

That's what I was thinking tonic but I'm afraid that the same thing will happen again. Will some kind of epoxy, glue, hardener help out in this case? My wife's cousin is going to take a look at my car today so he can see what he can do about painting the front bumper, hood, and spoiler.

Fill it full of epoxy (2-part like JB Weld or something), let it dry for a day or so, drill it out a smidge smaller diameter than the shaft of the screw there and reinstall....

5 bucks max!!!

Why not just use a bigger bolt?

Heck, I'd fill the hole with epoxy/jbweld/whatever and shove the stud in there while the epoxy is wet. That's not a screw you'd usually ever remove again anyway.

As for fixing the door (above), same method here would work, or you could glue/glass in a small piece of sheet metal to the area, drill a small hole in the metal, and not worry as much about it pulling out again.

...or you could just get a hold of a screw tapping set and just tap a screw hole just a little bit bigger so you could actually thread a new screw in. That's what I would do at least. The whole "fill it with jbweld and just screw into that" deal seems kinda like a quick fix that won't really hold up. But what the hell do I know anyways

but if it's cracked already, adding a bigger stud will just make the crack bigger too. . .

That's what I was thinking. Tapping the hole might damage the fiberglass.

That's a self tapping screw with a big fat thread on it. Never seen a tapping set with that thread.

The thread on it resembles a wood screw more than metal. It's not a fine pitch screw for the part that goes in to the SMC.

Oh from what I read it seemed to me like the bolt had just stripped. I was unaware of the fiberglass actually cracking.

No haven't fixed it yet. Haven't had time to run down to the parts store. I'm also debating whether I should just sell it and get an aftermarket ss spoiler from ebay.

cheaper to fix that one. if it's already the color you need, that section wont be visible. Just fix it It'll take you. . . .30 minutes (and let it dry for a few hours). Like someone else said, put the stud into the jb weld while it's wet and let it dry there. Problem solved!

I'm going to stop by tonight and get some. The color is off a bit so I'm going to have it repainted to match pretty soon.
