Default Adhesive Remover for molding

Hey guys, well I just got my 00 black on black ws6, and the guy I got it from took off the molding on the side of the car and the trans am moldings on the side off as well. Well now there is a residue left on the car that shows where the molding was on the car and I have tried quite a few things to get it off, and I just cant. So any and all advice would be great. Thank you very much

Daniel

3m general purpose adhesive remover. white can with red or black letters. works great. spray it on, let it sit for a few and rub, wont harm your paint.but mask it off if you can. if it leaves a little haze just take some polish to it.

I used DSR Decal & Sticker remover. It looks exactly like a can of PB blaster. It worked great for me when I removed my moldings. You can get it at Advanced or Auto Zone. Are you sure the adhesize is there still and not a line of clear coat paint? some people on here like myself have found that after removing the molding there is a line of clearcoat because the previous owner had it repainted for one reason or another. That may be what you are seeing. If so, like me, your only choice...repaint. Sorry. Hope this helps.

Well after going by a paint depot and getting some 3m adhesive remover.... It didnt work lol. So I am guessing that the car was repainted and the it is just a clear coat line. But oh well... what can you do? Thanks for all the input though guys, I really apprecaite it.

it might not have been repainted, moldings sometimes work there way into the top coat, have you ever taken off a pinstripe and seen the indentation that it leaves ? pistripes work there way into the top coats and divot it, same with moldings, what you could try is to wetsand and buff it, but dont do it if youve never used a high speed buffer and goof cutting and polishing compounds, if you want to try another thing you can always try an eraser wheel on an air tool or a dremel, eraser wheels are great and they work well, its hard to burn the topcoat with an eraser wheel if you keep it moving, its very beginner friendly. just dont stay sitting in one spot with it.
