How long did it take to drop the engine out the bottom? I know it is the LS1, I have the V6, but timeframes should be similar. I need a new engine since mine spun a rod bearing and if I could do it myself it would be cheaper, just a matter of time is the issue.

for being the first time i have done it myself, and the second time i've helped, it took 6 hours, but that includes 2 trips to town and numerous breaks, and properly labeling everything before i took it out.

Hmm not bad... I suppose it might be possible to swap my motor in a weekend then... But who knows, stuff was stuck so hard when I had the shop fixing LCA bushings that they had to melt bolts off the car... Dunno if I want to get into anything like that.

Thanks for the info, and sorry for the

definately not as hard as it seems. it looks like there is a lot more involved, but once you get into it, its gravy.

So if I have a new shortblock waiting, moving the accessories over and reinstalling the motor may take less time then. I'm trying to avoid spending $800-$1000 for a shop to do the work if I can.

What is your timeframe for the car to get painted?

if you have everything waiting, and you do it right, you can have it done in a weekend.

i strongly reccomend getting this bookhttp://http://store.summitracing.com...5&autoview=sku
