T-top -> hard top?
i was thinking if someone had busted t-tops you could get the roof skin off of a hardtop car , cut the inside ends off of the broken tops, remove the centertop divider and slide the skin in the broken tops and you would basically have a hard top
i bet you go to a shop that dose custom body work like lowriders and stuff and they will get you done right, i mean afterall low rider shops have cars with 20k dollar paint jobs and ****.
and you would need new weather stripping the molding from the a pillers the bars that run over the top of the side windows the glue new headliner and you would be set. it's not all that hard, just takes some time and money. which you have both while your still deployed. could have the car in the shop and have it ready when you get back.
btw i'm glad mines a hard top

Most people that like their cars care about cosmetics. That's why people on this site tend to keep their cars in better condition than the average person. If something cosmetic makes him happy, what's wrong with that? How is it a waste of money? As for what cosmetics to spend money on, well that's totally up to the individual. Looks are 100% subjective, and there is NO right or wrong answer.....just whatever the owner likes best. I see people that spend $4,000+ on a set of wheels and tires. Mine cost less than half that, and I'm perfectly happy with them.....but does that make everyone else a fool for buying high end wheels if they want and can afford them?
You might not like it, you might not understand it, but that doesn't make it wrong or bad. Nor does that mean it'll look like a hack job.
it would be interesting if a company made the roof panel in carbon fiber. ill bet this swap would be more popular then...for weight savings.
here is a pic of Ryan K's underside to give you an idea of how much a t-top car differ's from a hardtop....2 bars

Not hard for a skilled shop. I just replaced my headliner in my '94 and had a good look-see under there. See the picture that Reject posted, that about sums it up.
If I had some extra money laying around and I found a local shop that had done it before... and done it well... there would be one less T-top Camaro in the world.

I like road racing and the hardtop has more structural rigidity due to the 2 stamped members on the outside of the roof. I imadine there is a little weight savings also.
I will make looking for hardtops as a hobby i guess
Look at my third gen ....... it has a v6 roof clamshelled to the ttop roof!
