Default T-top -> hard top?

I tried searching this but all I find is the opposite of what I'm interested in. I really dislike the t-tops and would like a hard top, has anyone ever done this conversion? Or have any tips on how hard it might be?

Very funny, not what I'm looking for though. I take it noone has ever heard of this or wanted to do it, which is probably to be expected.

shouldnt be too hard, as long as you can weld and have a hardtop shell or the roof of one from the junk yard

I tried this and I didn't get much, but I'm at work right now and NMCI filters just about everything so that might be the problem

I actually got the search to work when I got home but didn't find anything really definitive about it. I guess I'll just have to wing it. One of my roommates is a former body shop guy so he would probably be able to help.

I have a hardtop, and got my roof replaced due to the bubbles. When I took it in, the body shop at chevrolet asked me if I wanted T-Tops, since the hard tops have the center bar underneath the roof from the factory (I opted to keep the hardtop). So all they would have to do is take the T-top hardware off the top of the A-pillar and B-pillar, and throw a roof over top of that. Oh, and also get new A-pillar molding and weather stripping for the interior...

Seriously now, I asked for info about how to do it. I personally don't like the T-tops, never use them, and like the hardtop look better. Now if you want to give me $10k to buy a hardtop car, please be my guest. I don't know if there were any hard top T/A WS6's made but mine might be one sometime soon.

EDIT: I really almost did go broke the other day when I saw a hardtop SS at a stealership near me, H/C/E, SFC's, mids, and 55k miles. Thats what made up my mind that I would try the swap if it wasn't too extreme.

The bottom line is this....

Is it possible to do? I'm sure it is. Is it feasible and/or easy to do? Probably not.

If you are that unsatisfied with t-tops then sell the car and buy one with t-tops. If you can deal with them and would just rather have a hard top then you may just want to deal with them. I know that isn't the answer you want but it's the truth.

you can't get any ls1 trans ams w/ hard tops - the formulas in hardtops are relatively rare.

If you've been on the site for a while, then you would know there is quite a bit of interest in these t-top to hardtop conversions. no one has really done it though, and for obvious reasons, no one really wants to be the first to cut up there car without some sort of reassurance that they can finish the project and have it look factory.

i myself would be very interested in this conversion.

that seems to be the most feasible way to go. probably better off to find just the roof panel you need new from GM, rather than finding one in a junk yard and having to cut it all up to get the one part you need.

Yeah, this is what I'm thinking too. I can't do it right now because I am deploying soon but right after I get back the cars color is going to change so I figured it would be a good time to try something like this.
