Angry Car got hit

Where should I begin... On Thursday I was driving down Hwy 26 in Colleyvillle and this lady was slowing down to turn in to a shopping center.. so I start slowing down, but the 18 year old girl behind me didn't.. hit me going about 30mph.. the bumber is tore up, exhaust is hanging down and pushed under the rear axel, the driver side quater panel is bent to hell and pushed foward making the door not shut, the trunk wont shut, and the frame is bent behind the rear axel. So I want everyones opinion what they think is going to happen.. I have heard if the frame is bent they will total it, if they dont the body shop will have to put frame rails on the car.. I think that will hurt the resale value.. If they do if it will it ever be the same.. I will try to get some pic posted soon.
Thanks

Man im really sorry to hear that. When i got rearended in my Z28 the description of the damage is exactly what happened to mine. The insurance company totaled the car because it was a 1995 model with 105,000 miles. They will usually go by how much the car is worth and the estimate of the damage. if the damage comes out to like 70 % of the cars worth they will total it. Frame damage is generally bad and a lot of insurance companys will total a car just because of that. Word of advice... if they do total it, try to buy the totaled car back. theres a lot of potential money for that car to be parted out. Again im sorry this had to happen to you but all that mattesr is that you are still walking

It might not be totalled. If you could post some pics we could probably help you better. The damage usually has to be around 75% (i think) of what the value of the car is to be totalled. Frame work and quarter panels are usually expensive to fix. But like ehatcher said some insurance companies don't like frame work.

I forget what the percentage is. The last time I did it, I kept the car and they gave me money. Kind of the same way when you wreck one and they give you money to fix it. You just don't get enough to fix it.

It was a tool truck, like a small penske, u-haul type that hit me.. he was going like 45-50 mph.. didnt even hit the brakes. BOTH of the seats in the camaro SNAPPED backwards, it was pretty crappy. I hope they dont total your car and it can get fixed. I know you are probably attacked to that car like crazy, like i am to mine. i hope it gets fixed or you get the reimbursement in full for it.

yeah, generally frame damage means totaled. sorry man. hope the car is worth more than you owe! also with the damage labeled, its going to be enough damage to total out your car by itself. good luck with your search for another one!

Have you gotten any estimates yet? I've seen some KILLED cars get fixed and not deemed totalled.

You gotta find out if the bent frame effects the suspension/alignment. If not, then it's not too big a deal and most insurance companies won't total it then. Frame damage that tweeked the suspension is almost a gauranteed total. Glad you're OK, and I hope everything works out for the better (whichever way that may be) with your car. There's a reason and a plan for EVERYTHING. Swat
