Default Awesome Flame Technique

i was watching rides tonight and they were doing a build for miller welders and they did a flame job on the car and the way that they did it was that they painted like a regular paint job and then after that they took a blow torch and just ran it across in random patterns and it looks really cool.

This gave me an idea. I bet this would be a cool way to do true fire on a light colored vehicle. Like silver, what you could do is do this smoke effect all over the area where you want the true fire and then that would give you your smoke and dark base for your true fire. I bet this is what this guy did.

$$ It's not as bad as you'ld think. Being freehand, it doesn't take nearly as long as old tape and mask jobs.

The guy who did the above Tacoma paint job is amazing with his work. His name is Patrick Guyton and hes from SoCal.

He definitely didnt use the torch method and from the looks of it I dont think he needs too.

I know this guy is on an airbrush forum, but i cant remember how he did this. It seems like it would be easier to do it witht the torch because it would already make the nice gasy effects that are harder to produce with the airbrush.

Yea I mean the way the torch method looks I think it could work pretty damn well.

I will see if I can find his thread but if I remember right the black smoke has rootbeer candy in it. This is something I will start practicing once its a little warmer out so I can spray inside my garage and not my house...the fumes smell great but yea I dont want my fiancees cat growing an extra head or some ****. I will use my brothers 88 GT as a test mule.

Ok I copied and pasted from the site:

Ya it is a silver base.

As far as the brown color, not all black is really black, contrary to popular thought... the black base on this truck was a Dupont black out of the shops color system. I happened to be a brown based black, which is most apparent when your applying it thinned through an airbrush. This along with some greytones, K.rootbeer, K.apple and K.tangerine. Complete "How To" in process...

Sweet! Thanks man. yeah the fumes suck at the house i have been wanting to buy one of those little portable buildings and spray out of it. I mainly just spray bikes. That guy Patrick can sure flame up a truck probably better than lavallee
