True Fire! Is this a members car?

i like the idea, i was going to try and get a design i liked for true fire with the traditional bird on the hood, but decided i could spend my money elsewhere... the true fire itsn't that realistic. i think it would look better if the bird was smaller... at least the wings and such. but hey it stands out and its something different... i would drive it

See people think that the painter laid down the black to make the true fire look better on a grey car, it stands out and doesnt look like it is suppose to be there but what he was trying to accomplish was a Guyton inspired smoke effect.
Overdone? Maybe...but at least he tried and it came out decent.
Below is a true fire smoke effect Guyton paint job!
Im trying true fire this spring and summer on a test red hood and see how it comes out with and without the smoke effect.

Those are the painters version of true fire that was created by a friend of mine at Killer Paint in Washington. Mike sells videos of how to paint the true fire and now there are alot of painters trying their own spin on it. Some with less then desired results and some with fairly good versions. Check out mike's web site to see how their suppose to look. killerpaint.com I've had Mike paint a few things for me and he never disapoints.

those flames, to me, look a little too fake. the guy i learned from is the best guy i've seen at really making the flames look real and having them "pop" out at you. i'll try to get some pictures of the race car that they are building at my old school where i took autobody. it is awesome. pictures are definitely better than me trying to describe it, so i'll try to get some soon and put them in here.
here's a picture of the miniature hood that i painted - with help:
the pictures look a little fuzzy because of my camera... not the paint job

haha! that's the one and only thing i've painted in true fire... i even have a buddy who wants me to paint his bike in true fire... but i don't wanna paint anything until i've had a whole lot more practice. but as of yet i don't have a place to paint, but i'm hoping to build a paint booth in my barn here soon so i can paint some stuff.

those candies that are used for the real fire - whether it's the orange/red/yellow fire, or blue, or green, or whatever - are EXPENSIVE!!! oh my goodness. i don't remember costs, but i do remember them costing an exhorbitant amount of money.
the guy that taught our class told us a story about how he went up to seattle to paint true fire on the hood (and maybe fenders, i don't remember) of a Corvette... the car was already prepped and sitting in the booth. all he did was come in and paint the real fire - he didn't even apply the clearcoat... i think he said it took maybe an hour or two, and he got paid $5,000!
