Ok...Here are some pics of the tails during the day and night. I didn't have a chance to get it with the brake lights on. Keep in mind how dark I tinted these too!
These daytime pictures dont really show how bright the sun really was, it was pretty much shining right on the back of the car, about 3 in the afternoon. I will try to get some pics when it is cloudy or the sun is at least at noon.
Nighttime at about 2 car lengths away.
About 6 car lengths away.
Parking lights about 5 feet away.

Nice writeup and these look good on your car, but I'm pretty sure that would get me a fixit in California:
"(e) Taillamps shall be red in color and shall be plainly visible from all distances within 500 feet to the rear except that taillamps on vehicles manufactured after January 1, 1969, shall be plainly visible from all distances within 1,000 feet to the rear. "

that is the part about painting that confuses me. So when it is dry you take 2000 grit paper and wet sand the lense, use rubbing compound to even it out and polish to bring back the shine?

As for VHT having adhesion promotor in it, my guess is no but thats just a guess.
