Default How to fix hood alignment?

The previous owner had an SS hood installed (or installed it himself) but the alignment is ****. It has always bothered me but I never looked into fixing it. How can I modify the alignment? I'm not sure I see a way to fix it because it almost seems like the hood doesn't match the curve of the fender. Here's some pictures:

AHHH seems like all our cars end up having unaligned hoods. But for me i would just take it to a shop and im sure im gonna get quoted saying "dude it's so easy to fix" haha. Just get an estimate to see how much it would be and if it's reasonable than get it professionally fixed

It's not always the hood that needs realigning might also be the fenders that are messed up or been replaced and not installed very well. I'm not content with my hood's alignment either but I already gave up on it(F**K it)!

you make a good point but if you look at his fender it's aligned with the light and also aligned with the door.

How much you wanna bet it isn't OEM SS hood so the curve of it isn't quite right? Or maybe the fender isn't OEM..

Sounds good. I thought about taking it to a shop to get an estimate but I wanted to see if I might be able to do it myself.

No clue if it is an OEM hood or not but it does have the vent opening underneath the hood for the scoop. Not sure if aftermarkets have them or not.

While we're on the subject, anyone know the p/n for the hood bump stops?

uh no, oem ss hoods arent functional, so that is an aftermarket hood

Yea they are. There are two channels built into the under side of the hood that connect the hood grille to three slots that line up to the air box when it's shut.
Not saying it increases performance or not but if you blow air into the scoop it will come out under the air box.

One of my friend's hoods did the same thing. The reason his did that was bacause he leaned on it not paying attention. Maybe your hood is bowed somewhere. Try letting the hood all the way up and looking at the side of the hood that runs along the fender. Check and see if it has any bends in it that would make it lower in that one spot.

Well I stopped at a body shop today to get a quick estimate and he told me that he would feel bad having me spend money trying to get it fixed because he doesn't think it can be. It just doesn't look like it could ever match the fender lines and I agree.

Did any aftermarket SS hoods ever come with the "functional" underside? Perhaps it's just a **** poor aftermarket knock off. Gives me an excuse to swap the hood out for something else if I ever do a full repaint.

Aligning the hood is easy. Just loosen the hinges. Dremel out the holes in em if you need more movement out of em.

I'm willing to bet its the fender. You can tell the center of the fender is bowed upwards a bit. It'd be a lot more tough to find a hood that was built that improperly than it is to have a misaligned fender.
