I was a loyal customer of GEICO for several years. Paid on time, all the time. Only 1 claim, but it went to arbitration and other person paid 100%. Not even any speeding tickets. So I didn't think anything about it when I bought my 2002 TA WS6 and put it on full coverage. I was a little shocked when my premium jumped to almost $900 for 6 months.
About 2 weeks later, I got an ad in the mail from an insurance guy that I signed up for a free quote at a home show. I called him up, gave him some info, he came back with a quote that was about $350 less every 6 months. And to even sweeten the deal, the coverages were 10 times (no lie or exaggeration) that of what Geico could offer. So of course I went with him.
When I called Geico to see if they could compare, all they could do is ask if I did business with a certain bank. Gee, wonder why I dropped them??
It certainly pays to shop around. Even if you think your getting a great deal from a company that you've done business with for a long time.
