Thanks guys....All of the positive comments makes it all worth it. I decided to take work off Monday and get some paint on that thing. As for "only driving it once".....I actually test drove it before I bought it (atlanta).....and trailered it back to TN. It sat for a week while I was at work, and then I came home only to drive it to the weekly car show. As of today, I put a total of 12 miles on the car and I've owned it for 4 months.

I guess the only thing I regret about that race is not having time to change the oild or the sparkplugs or even put new gas in it. OH............I found a leaf in my intake manifold.

Looks nice and couple of ?'s

1.What was the final grit before the primer?
2.What was the final grit before base coat?
3.How many base coats were applied before clear?
4.Is this a single stage basecoat clear coat?

1. The final grit before the primer was 400 Dry/wet from 3M
2. I then sanded the primer with 800 dry/wet from 3M
3. Since I only sanded down to the original basecoat I applied 2 coats of base.
4. No...it's not a single stage, because I wanted a little more depth to the paint, I applied 3 coats of clear to top everything off.

Next will be a series of 1500 grit or 2000 grit....depending on how much sanding is necessary. Then a stage of buffing, I used to work at a detail shop so I'll give the buffing a try myself.

Shouldnt need too much more than 2000 and remember the swirl mark remover on that black!
