Default Help replacing the hood.

Ok guys you all know I cracked my hood and I was going to sale the car but I have always wanted to become much more handy on my car then chaining the oil. I know this might be a dumb question but is there anything I need to worry about pulling the hood off and putting a new one on? Any tools I need..

Thanks I plan to jump on this today..

A ratchet with I believe a 3/16" connector should do fine, a ratchet extension would make it easier. Loosen the bolts on the hood struts first, and then theres 2 bolts on each side holding the hood to the hinges. Break them all loose and remove. You will need to people to do this unless you want a cracked windshield.

you don't need to loosen the bolts on the strut mounts to take the hood off. There is a little clip on the top side of it that you can pull out with a flathead screwdriver, then they pop right off.

get a buddy to help you first. You will need a 3/8" drive ratchet, 3" long extension and a 13mm(I think) socket. Take out the four bolts(two per side) hold the hinge to the hood. Then take the rest of the hardware off the hood once you get it off the car.

Alright guys I got it off. Glad you let me know about the windshield or I might have cracked it. When my other hood gets here which is an OEM SS should I just be able to to bolt it on without any problems?

You'll have to adjust it once it is on there

Do you just turn the bolts and move the hood up and down? Is it a big pain on an OEM hood?

Not sure since I've never adjusted one, but I know it takes some time to get right. Looks like a lot of adjust, close hood, see which way it needs to go, open hood, adjust, close hood, repeat.

When you are adjusting it just barely loosen the bolts
