Default Painting plastic headlight housing

I quickly painted this piece today to see how it would look

(this isnt a pic of my paint i did today but an older one for reference)

I used a gloss black and it turned out alright, but it was a quickie job with the expectation that id do it over again

Those of you who have painted or would paint this piece, what kind of paint would be best for it? I thought the gloss black would look good but now after doing it today im considering a semi gloss. For now ill rattle can it, i may do it again in the future if/when i get a spray gun depending on how long the rattle can coat lasts. Any tips/tricks of the trade to prep and paint a hard plastic piece as such?

Rattle can is fine for this, what level of gloss is up to your taste, I'd go with satin or semi-gloss. Next time around sand it with 600 grit and hit it with some bulldog or other type of adhesion promoter and it will hold up longer.
