how to paint billet grill?

Default how to paint billet grill?

so Im about to buy a billet grill off of ebay, and i want to paint it black w/o taking it to a shop. what all will i need besides a can of flat black paint? i have absolutely ZERO experience painting anything. Can someone please educate me how the best way to paint this is? and what all i need to buy???

i would scuff it really good with either steel wool (medium or fine)or the gray scotch brights, throw on some etching primer after that or bulldog and paint it...

+1. Painted mine last night, exactly like that. Painting something like a grille is so easy. Just use smooth even coats from one side, to the other. And paint somewhere where you can't get overspray on anything important.

wow alright that sounds pretty easy. did you paint yours gloss black? or satin?? can u post up a pic?

if you are going to rattle can it, i would suggest using a highgloss or flat black engine paint. i dont like rattling something and i certainly dont like using the rattle clear so using the engine paint will still give it the durability without having to do so. just a suggestion though, again, i would shoot it out of a mini gun and use an automotive 2 part clear on it but i can understand that you dont have the ability to do so. i would say the engine paint (especially for a billet grill) is the next best thing.

Heres mine. I had to repaint it. had a few chips on it. So this time I added clear over it. Holding up so far.

what about painting a plastic grill? I just want to make my old sun faded black plastic grill look new....how should I go about doin that?
