Thanks for the positive feedback. Spring is almost here so its time to get started on her Mustang again.
Picking up a used junkyard 302 for her car tomorrow morning to replace the 200 I6.
Also just bought the front 17"x8" Vantage V45 wheels her Mustang so I can mock up the stance. We will buy the rear wheels after we do the 4 lug to 5 lug conversion on the entire car. Including disk brakes for the front.

And the new heart transplant begins............$250.00 302 V8 we will be swapping in place of her 200 I6. Once we get it mocked up into the car, we can start buying a new intake, valve covers and other goodies to make it run and look better.
Block numbers indicate it is around a 1974 engine. I still need to look up the head identification to verify what year and what vehicle it came out of.
Also a good thing we put this on the engine stand and put it in the garage because sunday morning we had 2 inches of snow.

From what I have noticed the 302 is much easier to find. I found one right away and for only $250.00.
Her wheels came in on tuesday and look awesome (pics in post #23). Cant wait to put those on in the near future.

I was doing research on a full disk conversion for the front and the best kit I can find is the kit by http://www.ultrastang.com/Page.asp?PageID=3 Comes with everything including spindles, 11" rotors, brackets, calipers, pads, and everything I need including the brake booster. $724.00 delivered to my house. So I might be buying that package very soon.

You are did such a good job! you should totally get a AOD tranny from a foxbody mustang and dump the c-4, here you go http://www.mustangmonthly.com/tipstr...eas/index.html
Its info for the aod tranny and other restomod ideas! also with the 302, you should have got a foxbody engine instead and those have efi o well , I am planning to get either a 65 or 66 coupe and convert it to a fastback =)

I dont think id put an AOD in anything, lol, they are notorius for over drive going out,(been there done that) and many other little problems too. I think the C-4 is a better transmission.

But anyway, nice project !!! I have always been a fan of the fastbacks, gonna be a real nice car when done.

Pulled her old straight 6 250 engine out about 3 weeks ago to make room for the 302 V8. Next I will mock up the 302 with the transmission. Then I can lower the front and get the front disk brakes, spindles, calipers, and 17" front wheels bolted up. I also plan to replace and repair the front frame pieces while I am mocking everything up. Its also the weekend we installed the underground sprinkler so the grass is tore up.

Thank you for the replies.
About a month ago I slipped a disk in my back so I am afraid there wont be much more progress on the car this year especially with winter coming up. I wanted to at least get a pic of the car with the new wheels but it probably just isnt going to happen until I heal.

I realize its been a while since I updated. Had a couple year delay due to slipping a disk in my back, then I had surgery for vertigo issues, and then I got married! Soooo now we are back getting motivated on the Fastback again.

I still have the 302 and just bought a C4 tranny, torque convertor, and flywheel for it. So now we just need to get this engine and tranny combo mocked up into the car and at least get this car started again.

I also wanted to finally announce my plans for the Exhaust for this car. It will be from a Saleen S281.

Here is the Saleen S281 exhaust set I bought for our 67 Fastback Mustang. This exhaust system is not easy to find at all.

This is what the rear of a Saleen S281 looks like.

Here is the front 11" slotted disk brake conversion kit I purchased a couple years ago.

C4 Transmission, Flywheel, and Torque converter $125.00
