It's dense plastic that's attached to the bumper support to absorb impact, one in the front and one in the rear.

The front is actually foam and the rear is plastic

Extra weight.. lol

It helps protect the car incase of an accident. Sometimes its useless, but others it may be of some sort of help.

Well the rear maybe.....but the front is also used to keep its form, the first time someone leans on it, the paint will crack/spider crack or the bumper could.

Its mostly just extra weight. and who leans on a front of a camaro ? lol I took mine out and you get alot of extra air in the engine bay by taking it out. You have to remove the front end to take it out and the plastic clips that hold it in are a B*tch to get out sometimes. Sense are cars arent really made to be hit it may save you alittle damage when u get hit but in the end in these cars if a shopping cart hits the front your going to need to replace the whole front end lol and the front is foam and the rear is plastic

+1 I took mine out along with the impact bar (yea call me stupid i dont care)
