how to paint...
From past experience, I don't recommend it. Ever look inside an avalanche? The dash is almost always peeling. When I did it, the paint loved to scratch and is a mother ****** to get clean because of the pattern in the plastic.
I didn't sand anything tho. My paint never peeled. I just cleaned it with laquer thinner really good, taped off what I didn't want painted and shot it with plastic spray paint. And when you buy paint just remember the saying, "you get what you pay for."

do i buy automotive paint/ or plastic car model paint? help!!! the reason i am asking is because my center console is scratched up and i hate it and i got new door bezels and they are faded * scrap yard find* and i dont want them to be ugly...maby a dye?
use a grey or gold scuffing pad and some scuff paste and scuff them up really good be sure not to to hard or you'll gouge them. then i would use an adhesion promotor, let it flash, paint them with base and then clear them if you choose. yes i would use automotive paint over model paint.
