would one of these be a good turbo for a forged 347 with 317 heads?

Yes it would. My friend had one just like these on his 2000 Trans am with a homebuilt truck manifold system on E85. The engine was a tired stock LS6 and he put down I think 595rwhp and 697 rwtq on 15psi. Quick spool with the P-trim housing.

 

I replied to your pm but I will post here too so everyone knows. It is a T4 flange with a 3" V-band outlet.
