I agree, I looked at both ebay and the site and they come in either or! I'm curious myself. The plates are for sure mild steel for welding however the actual bar makes the difference. I dropped you an offer yesterday not knowing which metal!

Easy to figure out.
Box and OP state that the Part# is 504.
Spohn's site supports this, and also states that the Chrome Moly option is PN#504-4130
Based on the pics posted by the seller, showing 504 clearly written both on the box, and the packing slip, I'm betting these are NOT Chrome Moly.
