This is designed to be used with the Malibu (78-83) & El Camino (78-87). It was designed around the LH8 oil pan so there is no need to cut and weld the oil pan to clear the steering and k member. Our conversion kit includes motor mounts, frame brackets, transmission cross member, poly urethane transmission mount, hardware, detailed instructions and they come with a lifetime free replacement/repair warranty. We offer kits for the T-56 and 4L60E transmissions. If the transmission you are using is not listed please call our tech department. Due to variations in body, body mounts & frames you might need to clearance the transmission tunnel or firewall. We also offer a complete line of the Muscle Rods headers ranging from 1 ¾" mid-length through 1 7/8" to 2" stepped long tube headers.
NOTE: Because of variations in the frames on these vehicles you will need to look at the frame before ordering. The section of the frame where the transmission crossmember bolts to the frame is boxed. Look at the length of the boxed section (or shelf), and if they ARE the same length use our 1982-1988 G-body Kit.
installation notes:
No notching of the frame required when using the 98-02 Camaro/Firebird F-body A/C compressor and Alternator.
4. No transmission tunnel modifications required.
5. Headers are designed around a floor shifter linkage and may require modifications to a column shift linkage for clearance.
6. Headers work with the following transmissions: T-56, 4L60E, 4L65E.
7. LSx kits and Headers for these cars are to be used with the GM LH-8 oil pan.
8. In some header installations the starter, valve cover, and/or spark plugs may need to be removed for installation of the new Muscle Rod headers.
9. Frame mounts bolt-in to existing holes in the frame, but the transmission crossmember requires drilling of new mounting holes.
