Removed from my 2003 Z06. 114k miles. Needs rebuild (lost a lifter) Cylinders look good and it spins smooth. Just needs to be freshened up. $800

A new GM bare LS1/6 block is $1000. I've seen used bare blocks for $700- $800 so factor in the crank, rods, and pistons. I also asked around on what it was worth and $1000 was the feedback I received. Add machine work and new parts and you'd be into a fresh shortblock for around $2000. I looked into doing that but found a good deal on a complete LS3 I couldn't pass up.
