Wow, the scrapyard here won't even take them due to the crackheads stealing them off of cars all over the area. And your price went from like 50 each to $30 a pair. So to the back of the shed they go. lol They'll be back up in value by next year.

Thats true. Last month i was getting .12 cents a pound for junk cars from our wrecking yard and this week i got .02 cents. The cats have gotten bad too. I got $200 for the two cats off my silverado and now they wont give me more than $20.

he is making a killing on everyone. If you post them on craigslist in any area someone will give you good money for them. Converters are down a little bit right now but no that much.

If rodium drop $5000 an ounce in the last month, you'd be paying them to take it. It only dropped about a grand in the past month, it dropped around 6 grand over few month span during the summer, but it was sitting on an artifical record high of over $10K per ounce. Palidium controls the price of scrap convertors, not rodium, even though they're in the same family of precious metals.

maybe im just bored tonight, but heres my 2-cents :
#1 - to quote "poconojoe" : "if rodium drop $5000 an ounce in the last month, you'd be paying them to take it. wrong in so many ways, but more importantly rhodium usage is DOMINATED by autocatalyst applications where it is used together with platinum and palladium to control exhaust emissions,( where on the other hand only roughly 50% of platinum and pallidum make their way to catalyst useage ) and seeing how interruptions to the Russian supply of rhodium since early 1997 have helped the rhodium price to increase as it did coupled with the fact that the auto industry, primarily the gas guzzling, gross polluting, low mpg suv rage sucked up SO MUCH of this material i would argue that unlike the BS housing market which was artificially high due to creative loans, the rhodium market was in fact real due to supply and demand. It was only when the big 3 dumped major stakes of both on-hand materials and futures in rhodium due to their knowledge that the market was taking a dump that the value fell. and it has in fact fallen from a high of $10,010.00 an ounce 6 months ago to $760.00 an ounce today. meaning it is only worth 13% of what it was worth 6 months ago. So even if he paid $60 each then, today they would only be worth $7.80 today ( and don't anybody forget that the cost and time to get used manufactured material seperated, purified and back to a state it can be used again is EXTREMELY expensive )
#2 - to quote "crawlinlt1camaro" : "well they are trying to rip you off, everywhere in illinois they will give you 52 for the regular ones of a ls1 for each other and if you have a truck or suv one, its like 78.. same goes for florida too.."

since when did illinois and florida control the pricing of ANYTHING, let alone a worldly traded commodity such as these ? are you insane ??? is my GM stock worth more in your state or should i take it to florida and sell my shares now ? wow-im really not one to smash people on any forum for their opinons but it is my opinion that crawlin lt1 camaro needs to quit crawling and walk with a brisk pace to catch up with todays world ( maybe somone punched your opti-spark in the eye and its having trouble seeing due to the swelling )

first off, we live in a free market so "buyer beware" has the same intellect as "seller beware" - the point is to know you're market and what you are selling or buying / SOMEONE has to be making money on the deal, maybe its you now, maybe its the other guy next time, deal with it, its part of life. and SECONDLY, and i do hate to quote twice, but "converters are down but not that much" - just curious, but are you a passenger in the "crawlinlt1camaro"
??? - you need to get out and run before you both get rear ended by a yugo
in fact, drag him out and make him run besides you, after all, IT IS A LT1
#4 - to quote "jbk315" :"Wow, the scrapyard here won't even take them due to the crackheads stealing them off of cars all over the area. And your price went from like 50 each to $30 a pair. So to the back of the shed they go. lol They'll be back up in value by next year. "

i think you posted the most thoughtful message of all, almost / right up until the timeline of next year, while i do believe that it will go up again, we will all be LUCKY INDEED if our mess is solved that soon. "back in the shed" - i hear ya !
anyways - my "egg-nogg" glass is getting empty, so ill catch you all later
merry christmas to all, and to all a good fight !
