LS1 Edit is the ultimate programming tool and not difficult to use if you are decent with computers. Yes you can use your desktop with it, with a long serial cable. Laptop is just more convenient.

What he said.

I use edit on both. For the most part, I do my tuning changes on my desktop and the flashing with the laptop. Its just easier with a standard mouse/keyboard than the thinkpad stuff.

I fI buy the LS1 Edit, then I should be able to use my local dyno shop instead of driving 3 or 400 miles to tune my car. Will LS1 edit work when I put my ATi Supercharger on or would I need a different program. I guess what I am saying is, is LS1 Edit the program I need for tuning a boosted car? Can I save my origanal program that is in the car incase i screw something up and need to go back to the origanil settings?

LS1 Edit is the end, there is nothing better. It can tune for anything.

Dont waste you cash on a handheld programmer if you are looking for true dyno tuning.

Yes, you can tune a boosted car or any other kind for that matter. It doesn't load a "caned" program into the PCM, but rather allows you to edit what is there. Yes, you can save the original copy and you should definitly do that; write it to a CDROM disk and store somewhere safe.
