Should I tune my Z28? (close to stock daily driver)
Besides a couple of free mods my car has a Magnaflow catback, SLP Y-Pipe (fits right up to the cats), and an SLP lid.
I have a 02 6-speed Z28. I was thinking about the idea of a tune for my car. I read mixed things from searches here. Some people will say you get proven gains from a tune with a stockish car like mine, other say the opposite.
I was considering long tubes as my only "big" mod down the road for this car but some posters say I would be throwing a lot of codes and replacing my 02 sensors often if this is my daily driver.
Any insight on the benefits I might get from a tune and if it's worth it?
Thanks.

For me I would just go as far as you are going to go with mods and then get a tune as long as you weren't planning on doing anything else in the future. Will you gain from a tune? Probably but it wont be the best bang for your buck.
As for the long tubes... I've had LT's on my camaro for several years and have never had to change 02's. You will get codes poping up after the install but they can be deleted for 50 bucks or so from a tuner.

Thanks for the replies. I think I am just going to go for LT's next summer and with that go ahead and get a tune and the car dynoed.
I know this car is tuned for premium fuel, but can tuners get a little more out of my car if it only uses 93 octane?
