Default 190kpa at idle ?!

I purchased and installed 12580698 or BW EC1636 2 bar map from advance auto and installed it on my PT88 408 but as soon as the car fires up it believes that its producing 190kpa when its actually at idle, all wires to the sensor from the pcm I have checked as ok, and power and ground is present on their respective wires yet the car thinks its making 14 lbs of boost at idle whats the deal I cant figure this out, the 2 bar upgrade has been installed and it just wont run right yet the motor is making 11" of vacuum

Did you change the map table? Here's the calibrations:

This seems more like what you'd get with a 2-bar OS and a 1-bar
sensor. Might shake that counter boy by the neck until he gives
you the right part, not the part the computer says is right for
your car.

you're right, the 12580698 is NOT an EC1636 even though they look the same, the computer was listing it wrong at advance. EC1636 is in fact a one bar, now the other thing, is even with a one bar tune back in it, and the one bar sensor it idled at 95kpa! I must have more vaccum than that! I had to replace my vaccum hoses because the first ones were getting sucked shut! so why would it be so high still? would it matter if the plugs were VERY VERY fouled? could that affect vaccum? does the sensor need an offset? can you set an offset with hp tuners?

At idle w/ cam I read about 50kPa, so again looks like you
are seeing double.

Now, too, custom OSes may read kooky on the SAE MAP
and stock MAP PIDs, there is a special MAP PID added for
2-bar, 3-bar OSes that you should use for logging. At
least this is how it goes for HPTuners, don't know about
the others.

Like I asked "Key on, engine off"??
Compare the 2. If they are both whacked without actually having vac applied, look elsewhere...Like Jimmyblue suggests.

should be 100 KPA key on engine off right? I changed out plugs tonight and with the new supposed 2 bar map, and a still 1 bar OS the car idled fantastically and revved super clean and fast, but still smoked a bit, I would imagine it should be on the lean side since its a 2 bar sensor with 1 bar OS right now. also, the fuel pressure gauge I ordered finally came, I was previously at 90 PSI!!!!!! now Im at a more appropriate 40 psi from the weldon DB2025 should complement the 95#/hrs nicely all that remains is the tune :-D

2.25V means a 2-bar MAP (full scale is 4.5V). So the piece is
good, now look in the scanner PID list for a special 2Bar MAP
option and use that instead of the regular ones.
