what is SPEED DENSITY good for...?
hey guys... when and when should you not use a speed density tune...? why do people do it, and why wouldn't you...?
it would be nice to get rid of the MAF i must say... but something tells me that's not always a good thing...

There are setups where it's necessary (airflow limit
in the PCM) and there's the elimination of MAF flow /
pressure drop (not much gain if descreened). You
lose some resilience to environmental changes. On
a cammed car the MAF may be a source of error at
lower RPM. Keeping the MAF will let you run a dry
nitrous setup.

There have been some pretty good threads on SD tuning, and some pretty good debates. If I were you I would consider it, especially if you do your own tuning and keep an eye on your AFR. Your power level is about max for the stock MAF, it not slightly beyond. You may pick up a bit by removing it or installing a bigger one. I prefer SD but there are plenty of people with opinions on which way to go and why/when. Here is a fairly recent thread on it:
