Default How far can the stock ecu bend w mods?

Hey guys,
I'm putting together a DD, using a 5.3l vortec engine. Because of hood clearance I will be using an LS1 intake. I know that I will need to take care of the VATS, perhaps EGR and a pair of o2 sensors as well. Eventually a cam, intake, injectors, the whole nine yards may be installed. At this point in time, I just want it in the car and not running in limp mode. I was wondering can this be done with a tech 2 and module info from GM. I currently install GM accessories and have been given a tech 2, a log-in/pass to d/l and install vehicle module information and I happen to be pretty handy to boot. I was wondering if simple things like this can be handled on my own or will I still need to reach out and find someone.

A tech2 can only load factory operating systems. You need something like Hp Tuners or Efi Live to alter your tune
