Default mail order tune worth it?

i just finished installing my headers and xpipe today, is it worth it to get one of those basic mail order tunes, like from lsxtune.com?

if you did, did you notice gains?

Trifecta Performance. Cheap. And effective. And yes, get a tune.

The definition of "worth-it" depends on the cost. My dyno tune was $550. Could have got a mail order one for $199. The extra attention and testing was worth it to me.

well the reason i asked is because the computer already learned the exhaust. and by learn i mean, it now idles and runs right. but will there be a huge performance gain if i got a one of the those generic mail order tunes that are made for bolt ons. lsxtune.com has one for 125.

For that price I'd say go for it if there will be a huge performance gain

i decided to get tunercats and learn to tune my self, i did end up going with a load it your self tune from PCM for less, over all i think its good, definatly worth the cheap price (quite cheap for load it your self) to make sure i was going about things the right way, mostly the same stuff i was already doing in my tune, definatly gains over stock tune though

Can't beat a mailorder tune for the price...but it'll just lead you to want to upgrade to efi live or hp tuners. After all , We are the upgrade types

mail order tunes can be pretty accurate on most bolt on cars do to the large amount of them most tuning shops see, the big thing is if your gonna do a cam or heads then you really need the live tune.
