Default Is there someone who can hack into my comp and help me???

I have tried to download the drivers for my HP tuners, and for some reason, i just cant seem to get this thing to see the drivers and recognize the usb device. Is tehre any way someone can remotely access my computer from HP tuners? Or maybe there is something i am missing? My computer is a brand new toshiba laptop from best buy. Pentium T3400 dual core processor, 2gb sdram, Windows Vista. Ive got 3 usb ports and none of them work with it. I bought this thing especially for HPtuners, too. Please someone help me?

From everything you've posted, it still sounds like
a plain hardware/OS/driver problem. You're the guy
trying to run a serial HPT cable through a USB:serial
adaptor, right?

If so, forget even attaching the HPTuners cable for
starts, just plug in the adaptor and get it to install
the drivers. Vista is the devil, but you can give the
devil his due and then move on. Be sure you have
the adaptor mfr's Vista driver download.

Then when the computer does no more bitching
about the unknown device, blah blah, you have to
perhaps do some settings on the "virtual COM port"
to get bit rate, parity, handshake stuff on the
up-and-up. There was info in the docs for that,
back when I had the serial hardware (but I used
serial port, never the USB:serial external; so you
may have extra digging, to find where the config
"handle" is.

Right-clicking on the "My Computer" icon for
Properties ought to give you the OS info in
the General tab.

But I bet if you downloaded both Vista driver
install files (32 & 64-bit), the one that was
incompatible would let you know.

if its vista 64 bit the install will NOT work.
you have to install some magical driver thingy to make it work. yes, thats the technical term.

So is the USB-serial adaptor coming up clean w/
