Default Ideas on my laptop tray

http://www.afterthoughtsauto.com/mobnotdescam.html got some ideas from here but where would i find similar parts to make mine as adjustable as theirs? So far this is what ive gotten http://www.geocities.com/foff667/98Camaropg2.html as you can see its not a clean as the first one and its using threads as the swivel so there is a bit of loosness thats id like to avoid...afterthoughts concept obviously is better but mine is cheaper...but id spend an extra 30-50 bucks if it would make my design just as good Any thoughts would help. Or if anyone has any idea of where i can find some of the stuff from that afterthoughts kit that would be great.

That looks like it should work . . . I've considered building my own also, but so far just putting it on the seat with the seat belt holding it has worked fine. You could drill and tap a small hole in the pipe fitting for a 10-32 thumb screw to lock it in place. I would drill a series of slightly larger holes in the pipe for the thumb screw to lock into.

Oh, BTW, be very carefull welding galvanized pipe . . . the zinc coating turns into a very poisonus gas when burned by the arc; causes long-term muscle paralysis! I sugest using a big-*** fan and staying up-wind of the part. Or better yet, just buy black pipe for any projects like this.
