Default Generator Warning light

Hi,
I trying to wire up the Generator warning light but my GMPP wiring kit only has one wire going to the generator out of the 4 pins the GMPP kit has a wire in pin 2.

Does any one know which pin I should use to take a warning light.

I know some other after market kits have this option but dont know which pin to use.

Cheers

That is the L-terminal (Lamp) for the alternator.

It should have some pullup to Ignition in the harness to allow the alternator to charge. That wire will go to ground if there is a problem with the alternator.

Older setups just pulled this pin up to Ignition with a standard incandescent bulb since it was enough pullup to charge.

What are you looking to use as a warning light?

depending on what vehicle the alternator came from you may not need the second wire on the connector. Since the harness only has the one wire currently, I'm willing to bet you wont.

The ECM is "watching" the warning lamp pin currently if it's wired like I think it is.

Hi,

The connector I have at the moment has 4 pin connectors but the alternators only have 3 pins.

The one wire on the connector goes to what I call connector 2 but could be connector 3 [i.e. flipping it the other way round.

God Im useless as electrics!!

So I should go with connector 3 [i.e. usin gthe 2 inboard connectors?
