It's probably got an EFIlive custom OS applied. I'd bet money on it. Which means it's not really locked, you just can't access it with HPT.

Call Geoff Skinner at Engine Power Systems (co-founder of Thunder Racing). He can unlock anything.

What is your name? I see in your signature that you have a '98 and a '02 Car. First if it is the '98 I have NO way to lock the computer using EFI Live. If it is the newer car it is more likely that a custom OS was applied and HP Tuners won't read it. Send me a PM with your name and I can see what is going on. Anyways if it is locked I can pretty easily unlock it anyways...even if someone else applied the lock. I don't normally lock PCM's so I am not sure how it would have been locked unless some other tuner also worked on the car.

A lot of people confuse a car with a non stock OS as a car with a locked PCM.

This goes for a OS that came stock in a different year, a HPTuners custom OS or a EFIlive custom OS.

A stock OS for a different year, should not cause a read file security issue, unless, you have say a 99 pcm in a 98 car with a valid 98 vin number, which will cause a problem using hptuners. With efilive, no issue, since you manually select the target controller type.

Even then our software won't have a problem reading it out, it will look at the os mainly to determine what pcm it uses since our software can automatically determine what pcm it is equipped with based off of this.

Foff667, good to know, but I am correct saying you will not be able to flash a vehicle with that condition, since it is not a valid vin/os combination?

Correct with an asterisk, but yeah if theres a vin/os pair in the pcm that you read out with our software you will not be able to license the file until the vin/os issue is fixed.
