Tuning my own car

I have a very basic tune on my car done by a friend of mine. Its a cam only LS1 GTO. I know I can get more out of it. It has some idle issues I'd like to fix also. Im also putting a 100-125 shot on it soon. I was wondering what I should look into doing to tune it myself. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It may intimidate you at first, but just take your time and read, read, read. Then tune.

It's a lot to take in, some small things you'll have to mess up a few times, til you really learn your way around it. Using good software (such as HPTuners) and a good wideband kinda makes it hard to mess up, as long as you have an open mind about what you're trying to learn and try your best to learn the correct way.
