Security light problem

so, i get in my car this morning and as i'm driving down my street i notice the security light is on. it remained on steady all the way to work this morning. It came on when i drove to a meeting in the middle of the day, and it was on when i drove home this evening. there was no performance change and no issues starting right up as always.

what do i need to look at to fix this?

Same thing happened to me, had a broken wire that went up the steering column to the pickups in the ignition switch. Check there first.

Try cleaning the key first. If it stays on a repair or VATS bypass is in your future.

can you give me an idea where on the column the broken wire was?

and clue as to what cause it to break?

broke right at the lock cylinder, turning the key causes the wire to rub inside of the cylinder untill it's worn through. I had a lock smith take it all apart. I've since did the VATS bypass.
